VDA 6.3 PROCESS AUDITING
VDA (Verband der Automobilindustrie) 6. x is a set of automotive quality standards developed by Germany's national automaker association. Required by all major German automotive manufacturers and their suppliers, the VDA 6. x framework is also officially recognized in France and Italy.
VDA 6.3 is a First & Second Party audit/assessment standard that evaluates supply chain for its product/product group and their associated processes throughout the product life cycle. Following this assessment/audit, a standard has been mandated by many German carmakers for their supply chain partners.
VDA 6.3 is a process audit so it is all about assessing the product life cycle. As with all standards and regulations, there is an increasing emphasis on identifying, assessing and managing risk. It involves understanding the suppliers, managing change and a focus on customer requirements and satisfaction.
The standard focuses on key aspects such as quality control, documentation, control of production processes, identification and tracking of defective parts and resolution of discrepancies.
VDA 6.3 is widely recognized as a preferred manufacturing process audit standard and using software solutions to aid process auditors and internal audits can significantly improve process control, product quality, QMS compliance, and ongoing certification.
VDA 6.3 audit can be performed based on internal targets, as an effective tool for monitoring and maintaining processes at the world best practices level. VDA 6.3 audit covers all life cycle processes: planning, project management, development, production, purchasing, etc.
